The training at the Animation School Luxembourg (BTS Dessin d’Animation)

The BTS (Brevet de Technicien Supérieur) is a two-year, higher vocational training program under the supervision of the Ministries of Culture, Education and Research. The BTS of the LAM are in accordance with the Bologna process in order to meet the specific training objectives of the Brevet de Technicien Supérieur. Studies for obtaining a BTS are organized over a maximum period of two years (4 semesters) and require the completion of an entire program of 120 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System).

The training program of the Animation BTS (BTS Dessin d’Animation)

The Animation BTS (BTS Dessin d’Animation) with its 28 years of experience, offers studies that prepare for the different professions related to the production of animated films. The training focuses on teaching the technical aspects of manufacturing processes and the conventions that professionals in the field respect and consider. Furthermore, we continuously foster the demanding practice of freehand drawing techniques specific to animation. We train versatile designers and technicians who can easily integrate into the world of work and specifically in production studios.

Educational approach

The program offers a pedagogy essentially based on the practice of the various aspects of the processes and conventions of an animated film production.

Priority is given to the constant practice of manual drawing techniques specific to cartoons. Thus, the student learns at best to respect sizes and proportions, and to translate dynamics, rhythm and expression into movement.

Computer animation, while based on manual skills, includes learning to work with Photoshop, After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Flash, and TVPaint programs for color, editing, and post-production processes. Training in 3D animation is done on Autodesk Maya.
